NML is a part of the Directorate General of Health Services which is an attached office of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India.

Director (Library) is presently functioning as the Head of the Library who reports to Director General of Health Services through a Senior Administrative Grade Level Officer in the Directorate.

The library is organised into following functional units:

4. Reference Service

5. ERMED Section

6. Photocopying Service / document delivery through e-mail

7. Binding Section

8. Administration Section
