NML-ERMED Consortium:
National Medical Library’s Electronic Resources in Medicine Consortium is an initiative taken by Directorate General of Health Services and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India to develop nationwide electronic information resources in the field of medicine for delivering effective health care. It was started in the year 2008 with 39 member institutes [28-ICMR + 10 DGHS + AIIMS-Delhi]. The aim of this consortium is as follows:
Round the clock instant online access to multiple users through IP Address and customer ID.
Access to resources beyond the physical space and time of the library. Users can access libraries e-Journal resources from their department.
Benefit of cross sharing
Ultimate aim of any e-Journal consortium is to make online journal literature available to unreachable medical scholars working in the country through electronic media.
Facilitate better management of information resources in electronic environment.
Hassles of archiving print resources and their management is reduced.
Dissemination of e-Journal literature is faster, more economical and more efficient.
Presently, 70 state and centrally funded Government Institutions including 06 AIIMS is the member of the consortium. There is no membership fee charged from member institutes and the MOHFW has provided funds required for the purchase of electronic journals under the NML-ERMED Consortium. The consortium is coordinated through it’s headquarter set up at the NML. 228+ high quality online e-journals are presently subscribed from the 05 following leading publishers:
